Don't I hate this time of year when my fly fishing is over for the season. Like many of you, I don't fish for the meat as I release all of my trout. I fish because trout live in such beautiful places, so serene, so good for your soul. Because I only river fish for trout, it is like hunting in some respects trying to find that spot that holds a nice plump trout. To make this down time pass more quickly, I tie trout flies replacing the ones I've lost and maybe a new pattern or two for next season. However, it never seems to make it go quickly enough for me. Many of you have similar feelings about the fishing you do as well. The only thing we can do is commiserate with each other as the new season grinds slowly towards us. I wish each of you a speedy off season as well as a productive one tying those special flies to fool those wonderful trout, salmon etc.
