So now that photobucket has decided that I need to pay for 3rd party hosting and got rid of all my pics I was wondering how everyone else was doing the pic thing. And no I dont have a cell phone so dear god make this easy, I am still in the stone age.

Just a quick test from photobucket above ^^ mind you this is an image I had uploaded some time ago. I'll try from scratch and report back.
Photobucket is a steaming P.O.S. with its ever changing business model so there has to be another service out there.
When copying the link from photobucket there are 4 options (listed from top to bottom):
1) EMAIL & IM 2) DIRECT 3) HTML 4) IMG
The one I used above for that monstrosity of a deceiver is option 4) IMG
I simply copied the link and pasted it into the body of the above message and used the 'post quick reply' option.

Now I just uploaded 9 pictures to photobucket which caused it to crash my browser but I believe it worked: This is a pattern called "Steffy's Orange" which was created by my dear friend Stephanie Elson. I tied this while cooking breakfast at the Lizzard Lounge with them last week. They're the best!

When I posted those pics of the injured grilse, all I did was click on "reply," and then the "Add Attachment" button , added the files I wanted from my computer then inserted them. This method is only good for a couple of pics though as I was only limited to three files and they had to be under one megabyte. The upside was that I didn't have to link to another website to show the pics. The downside was that I was limited in size and quantity. I copied what it says in the help file and included it below. It has more info about adding multiple files to your posts. I'll have to give it a try sometime, but I am not big on "cloud" servers hosting my photos. For some things at least, I am analog in a digital world! Anyway, here is the instructions in the help file... There are a couple of different ways you can insert an image to display within a post you make. One way is to have the forum host the image via the attachment system, or by linking to an image that you have hosted elsewhere. This article will let you know how to link an image from a 3rd party hosting provider, from services like Photobucket, imgur, ImageShack, and etc. If you do not have an account with a hosting provider and would rather upload images directly to the forum instead, view the attachment help article found here for further instruction. To link directly to an image hosted elsewhere, you'll first need to get the direct URL to the image you want to embed within your post. Direct URL's will end with the file format of the image, such as .jpg, .png, .gif, and etc. Often times you can locate the direct URL of an image from the share options when viewing the image on the hosting service. An example of a direct image URL would be something like: i.imgur.com/tHtwFXm.gifOnce you have the direct URL of an image you would like to insert into a post, click the Reply button to an existing thread on the forum, or create a new thread to bring up the posting page. On the posting page click on the image button found in the toolbar directly above the message area. Once clicked a pop-up window will display asking you for the Image URL, along with the Alt Text. Paste in the direct URL for the image you want to share within your post into the box provided for the Image URL option. The text you enter in the Alt Text field is what will display in your post any time the image itself is unable to load, either because the visitor has images disabled in their web browser or if your image hosting provider is having technical issues and is unable to load the image. Once you have the Image URL and Alt Text filled out, click on the Insert Image button found at the bottom of the pop-up window and you should see a reference to your image appear in the message area of your post. Once your post is made, the image will display directly in your message.

Thanks Jonah!
I was just poking around Stephen's photobucket and there is something that is definitely different from mine - I think the solution may be found in his account settings like the image he's posting suggests.

Thanks Gary, some of the guys on the classic salmon forum are having the same problem. Apparently photobucket changed hands and the new owners want 400 a year to share your pics.

That's exactly what happened, Stephen. I'm going to look into having my own website (maybe godaddy-based or something). Maybe I can host my own pics. Was looking at a couple forums where I've posted pics in the past, and they (the pics) are all gone. #@*!ers. Gary
