I hate to spoil all the fishing talk but I was going to work this morning at 5:00am and I absolutly smoked 2 young great horned owls. They were huddled in the middle of my lane and by the time I saw them I couldnt do anything. I have been sick about it all day and I stopped and turned them in to DNR on the way home from work. They were just old enough to fly a little and boys I am beating myself up over it bad. I have a few feathers floating around the back of my truck and not sure if I can bring myself to hang on to them.
one very sad old man

Thanks John but still very sad. They are such a beautiful and regal bird they sure deserve better. There must have been a nest somewhere and they flew out and landed in the road. There was nothing there to eat and they were just huddled together. Damn

Hi Stephen, It's unfortunate for the loss and the impact it has had on you. As John said if you could have avoided it you would have. Accidents are most often beyond our control and while we would like to control the outcome we can not. The stress caused by such an occurrence is painful but some solace can be had knowing that it was an accident over which you had no control. Try to take this in stride, bud, and let the pain be slowly replaced by the realization there was nothing you could have done. Your friend, Tim.

Thanks guys, there really was nothing I could have done but there are a few feathers floating around the back of my truck so maybe I can put them to use. Funny, I have hunted for many years and harvested lots of stuff but running over something always bothered me, coon, skunk or whatever I never liked running it over. Honestly, I shot 2 partridge last fall and I kinda felt bad about that. I think I may be going soft, must be all this hook and release stuff.lol

Don't beat yourself up too bad , not your fault.

Hang in there, Boss. What you've done for those Ospreys in your backyard (and I'm sure many other things) more than makes up for this one. I believe your good Kharma is still fully intact. Gary
