Hi Howie, It's good to have a forum going again, I missed the nsflyguy forum. I just happened on this site by accident so I joined immediately. Are you going to include NS rivers as well as NB rivers, bud? While I fish salmon in the fall it is just to give me an extra month of fishing so I don't class myself as a salmon fisherman. My main interest is trout and I would bypass 100 salmon rivers to get to 1 little trout brook so I am hoping there will be lots of info on trout flies , water levels etc. In NS. I wish you much success in your new venture, Howie, with hopes it will be as successful as you want it to be.

Thanks for your kind words, Tim - this forum will be whatever the members want it to be, Nova Scotia included. It seems I'll be swinging a fly or 2 in an NS river for my first time next week so by all means let's include NS

Good morning Tim, I've made a few adjustments to the forum structure so we'll be able to keep the NS content in one area. If you want it changed/tweaked/added to/etc. let me know.
On another note, any idea where a fellow might pick up a non resident license on a Sunday? I'm staying 20km or so from North Sydney.

Hi Howie, That sounds good, all we need is to get some more NS fisherman on here to share their knowledge etc. About the license, I'm afraid I won't be of much help. Crappy Tire would have them and likely be open on a Sunday, at least they are in Dartmouth.

I went fishing last Friday on the South and had a great day. The brookies and rainbows cooperated and with my 7'6" 4wt bamboo rod it was a hoot. The river didn't get as much rain as we did in Dartmouth but was still enough to provide a great day of fishing. Hopefully we can get more rain to make for some good fishing this fall. The wooly worm turned them on again, I've caught salmon and 3 kinds of trout with that fly. With any luck it will do the trick again this fall. Has anybody heard about the water in the Wallace, Philip or Waugh? Thanks for any info.

Today is my birthday so I went fishing the Wallace...lol. I landed a nice 3 lb brown trout on my Hardy 6wt bamboo underlined with a 5wt DT. Because I have used graphite rods for most of my fly fishing I like a faster rod, as bamboo is slower this is a way to speed it up a bit. Given the weather we are expecting this is likely my last hurrah for this season. For those still able to get out tight lines.
